Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
This project involves the acquisition of a 7.7 acre neighborhood park located in a rapidly growing residential area two miles northeast of the Vancouver city limits. Lalonde Creek flows across the northeast corner of the property. This project will provide the only outdoor recreation facilities within the site’s 0.5 mile service area radius. Future improvements will include picnic tables, children’s play equipment, a hard-surfaced play court, open play meadow, and pedestrian and bicycle trails.
