Category Overview
Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Shoreline will use this grant to renovate Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, the city’s second most used park. Work will include managing and replanting native habitat, adding a pedestrian sidewalk with curbing along the main park drive to protect pedestrians from cars, plantings to stabilize steep slopes, walkways and stairs, two new activity centers with arbors, interpretive signs, gathering places for sitting and dining, parking and other park elements. These two new activity areas will become overlooks providing views of the mountains, Sound and islands. Shoreline will contribute cash through a voter-approved bond levy.
