Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Phase 2 development at Aberdeen’s Chehalis Riverfront Athletic Complex will result in one Babe Ruth size baseball field, two softball/baseball fields, three practice fields, restrooms, parking and signs. Funding for Phase 1 came from the Youth Athletic Facilities program, and several local donations, separate from Phase 2 funding. Future phases will include picnic areas, scenic walking paths and other park amenities. Ultimately, the City is developing a $4.4 million complex that will serve the entire Region.
