The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.

Project Highlights

Near the northern Kitsap Peninsula community of Hansville, this project acquired 49 acres of lake front park. Tripling the size of the current Buck Lake County Park, the project provides an undeveloped lake and associated wetlands for the public park use in an area undergoing rapid development.

Community of Hansville, at northern tip of Kitsap Peninsula. Located in North Kitsap County on Buck Lake Road. The park is approximately 154 acres.

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
