The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Skagit County Parks and Recreation utilized RCO Local Park funds to develop a trailhead and Veterans Plaza at the Northern State Recreation Area. The completed project has expanded and improved the trailhead parking, created a 1-mile accessible interpretive trail, improved utilities, added a picnic shelter, and honored the local veterans with a beautiful plaza. The primary recreational opportunities include walking, horseback riding, picnicking, and other passive recreation.
