Play For All

December 13, 2023

In order for Morgan’s kids to play at a playground together, she used to drive an hour each way.

One of Morgan’s children has a disability, and two are able-bodied. The playgrounds near her home were impossible to navigate with a mobility device. They didn’t offer any kind of safe or fun play for children with disabilities.

But now, thanks to the vision of her local community, a lot of hard work, and a grant from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program, that has changed. Now, eastern Jefferson County has a playground that can accommodate all children. Morgan’s kids are able to play, explore and challenge themselves—TOGETHER.

This is my favorite playground because it’s easier for me to get on stuff.

Not only that, but caregivers using walkers, canes, and wheelchairs can join in for an afternoon at the playground, too! You can find out more about JUMP! (including their campaign for a second phase!) at jumpplayground.org.

This is just one of the hundreds of projects made possible through the Coalition and the WWRP.

When you give, you’re also protecting land where wildlife can roam and thrive. You’re making sure that working farms and forests continue to support local communities across the state. You’re making holiday wishes come true for me and all Washingtonians.

Caitie, I know you believe in the power of investing in our great outdoors.

So, please, take a moment to give securely online.

With gratitude,

Christine Mahler
