Wapato Hills Neighborhood Park

This project will develop an existing undeveloped 14-acre neighborhood park property, purchased with a 1998 WWRP grant, for the densely-populated surrounding area. The Wapato Hills Task Force has been meeting for over three years to help design the project. When developed, the neighborhood park will provide a variety of outdoor recreation amenities including a multipurpose play field, playgrounds, basketball court, picnic sites, hiking/biking trails and landscaping. Wapato Hills Park has received a tremendous amount of community support. Park creation efforts which began with the South Tacoma Neighborhood Council now have the endorsement of all 8 Neighborhood Councils in the city.

Wapato Hills Neighborhood Park is located at South 64th & Wapato Street. From I - 5 to South 56th Street west , to Tacoma Mall Boulevard South - take right on 64th to Wapato Street.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
