Status
Funded in 2005
WWRP Applicant: City of Wenatchee WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $198,500 Applicant Match: $205,000 Project Type: Development County: Chelan  Legislative District: 12th

The City of Wenatchee and the Wenatchee, North Wenatchee and Sunrise Rotary Clubs propose the expansion of recreation opportunities at Wenatchee's Rotary Park. The expansion includes constructing a picnic shelter, playground, an interactive water feature, amphitheater, and a basketball court in this new park. Rotary Park is a new city venue that is being developed as a service project by the local Rotary Clubs. The City, the Rotary Clubs, and the Wenatchee North Neighbors Association are currently working on Phase 1 of the project (not a part of this application) which will be completed by June 2005. That phase entails environmental cleanup of the site, grading, path development, extension of Maple Street and sidewalks, establishment of irrigation and utilities, initial landscaping and construction of a restroom. This project respond to needs identified in the City of Wenatchee's Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan (2000). The seven acre park serves a rapidly growing residential area identified as underserved in the plan. The activities also meet needs in the City's recreational infrastructure for additional picnic shelters, playgrounds, and basketball courts and will expand the passive and active recreational features of the park.
