Nevitt Pool Renovation

Status
Funded in 1999
WWRP Applicant: City of Raymond WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $300,000 Applicant Match: $450,000 Project Type: Development County: Pacific  Legislative District: 19th

The City of Raymond, with its nonprofit community partner P.O.O.L. Foundation, Inc., is requesting WWRP funding for the renovation of the City’s swimming pool. The facility opened in 1955 when Dr. O.R. Nevitt challenged the citizens of Raymond to come up with donations to construct a pool. After nearly 30 years of service and countless children learning to swim, the pool far exceeded its useful life, became too costly to operate and was closed in 1984. Now, with the assistance of this WWRP grant, the City of Raymond will completely renovate Nevitt Pool. Renovation will include remodeling of the bathhouse and lobby, mechanical systems, pool tank and deck and addition of a water slide and water toys. The facility will meet all ADA requirements. As with the original construction of the pool, this project has wide community support. To date, over $150,000 in cash donations have been received for the reconstruction.
