Meydenbauer Bay Park Expansion

Bellevue will use this grant to buy one of the two remaining parcels between Meydenbauer Beach Park and the city-owned marina. Bellevue is bounded on the west by Lake Washington and on the east by Lake Sammamish. However, because of urban development, topography and the almost continuous private ownership of the shoreline, the public has limited visual and physical access to these lakes. Of the more than 11 miles of shoreline along the two lakes, less than 10 percent is publicly owned. Bellevue has made a substantial commitment in the past decade to increase the public presence along the waterfront, especially on Lake Washington. Nine parcels have been acquired between Meydenbauer Beach Park and the marina since 1993. Acquiring this parcel adds .32 acre to the city's holdings and leaves only one parcel left to complete the Lake Washington acquisition plan envisioned in the mid-1970s. This property is critical to the city's long-range vision for the area, which includes a regionally significant waterfront park that extends from Meydenbauer Beach Park to the marina, and a connection from that park to Bellevue's downtown. Bellevue will contribute more than $1.2 million in cash and conservation futures.

9815 Lake Washington Boulevard NE, Bellevue, Washington The project site is on the east side of Lake Washington in Bellevue at Meydenbauer Bay. The specific address is 9815 Lake Washington Boulevard NE. From I-405 in Bellevue, take the NE 8th St westbound exit. Proceed west through downtown to 100th Ave NE. Turn left and proceed south to Lake Washington Blvd. Turn Right. Proceed approximately two blocks to the driveway at 9821 Lake Washington Blvd. and turn left. The project site is the western most house at the end of the driveway. NOTE: Due to space constraints and privacy issues with a driveway that is shared by four homes, we will arrange to meet IAC Staff at the Meydenbauer Beach Park and walk to the project site from there.

What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
