The county proposes to construct 2 miles of the 7 mile Larry Scott Memorial Park trail corridor between Port Townsend and Milll Road near SR20. The trail serves as the eastern terminus of the 51 mile Olympic Discovery Trail. This trail segment travels along a spectacular stretch of shoreline, wetlands, wildlife areas, and forest. The trail will serve pedestrians and bicyclists, with a separate equestrian path along side on all but the final mile in which geographical constraints preclude horses. Development includes several interpretive waysides, scenic viewpoints, and picnic facilities.

Location

One end of this trail segment intersects Mill Road, several hundred feet south of the traffic signal at Mill Road and SR20, at the entrance to the City of Port Townsend. The trail runs from this point along the railway grade to the trail head at Haines Place Park and Ride adjacent to Kah Tai Park in Port Townsend.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
