Kitsap County will use this grant to purchase 3.6 acres of Navy housing property for the future Kingston Village Green Park in downtown Kingston. The county owns 10 acres of a reclaimed wastewater treatment site, which surrounds the Navy property. A small stream traverses the western edge of both the county and Navy property. The future park will contain ball fields, grass play areas, play equipment, tennis courts, a skateboard park, and walking paths. Kitsap County will contribute $954,500 in cash and a federal grant.

From the Kingston Ferry dock, drive west on Highway 104 two blocks to West Kingston Way. Drive 1/4 mile on West Kingston Way to the site, just east of Linvog Drive.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
