This acquisition will enhance Wade Park, along the Columbia River, by purchase of two parcels totaling 4.48 acres. The parcels are currently leased to the County until May 31, 2002, with the County having first option to purchase. The owners would like to see these parcels become a park. This purchase will enhance Wade Park by allowing for shoreline improvements, a regional bike path (the Sacagawea Heritage Trail), walkways, picnic hill, picnic shelter, restroom, parking, landscaping, and irrigation.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
