Civic Sports Fields Renovation
- Status
- Funded in 2007
Woodinville will use this grant to renovate and expand a former 1970s elementary school sports field into an 8-acre community park with lighted synthetic turf fields, fencing, a fitness trail with exercise stations, a basketball court, and a playground. The project will complement the adjacent city community center and improve access to Wilmot Gateway Park and trail access between downtown Woodinville and the regional Samammish River Trail. The current fields, used extensively by Little League, youth soccer, and recreation camps, have poor surfaces; lack lighting; have damaged or obsolete equipment such as fencing, backstops, and bleachers; have poor access for people with disabilities; and lack drinking fountains and covered dugouts. The renovations will more than double the hours of field use to 6,456. Woodinville will contribute $3.3 million in cash, donations, and grants.
Location
From I-405 North or South, take Exit #23A, ""Monroe/Wenatchee"" onto State Route 522 East. Take ""Woodinville-Redmond"" exit from SR522 onto 131st Avenue NE. Continue south on 131st Ave NE, through the main intersection of NE 175th Street. As you pass through this intersection, 131st Ave NE becomes NE 171st Street (commonly known as the South Bypass). Wilmot Gateway Park is on the right; Woodinville Civic Campus Ballfields are on the left.
