In May, the Coalition welcomed two new staff members: Betsy Robblee and Ken Mullins! Both join the Coalition as Program Assistants, and we couldn’t be happier to have them.
Betsy Robblee
A Skagit Valley native, Betsy comes to the Coalition with a background of federal policy experience and a deep passion for the outdoors. She began her career running a political campaign in northwest Washington, and then spent six years in the ‘other’ Washington as a policy advisor in the US Congress. After moving home to the Pacific Northwest, Betsy worked as a chef and a yoga instructor before making her way back to policy and advocacy work. In her free time she loves to explore the mountains through hiking, backpacking, skiing, and climbing. Email her to welcome her to the team!
Ken Mullins
After graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in Economics, Ken spent the next four years traveling throughout the country. From building trails in Arizona, to saving dolphins in Cape Cod, to teaching environmental science in California, to fighting wildfires in Georgia, Ken’s passion for the outdoors eventually brought him to Seattle. After graduating with his Masters in Public Administration, Environmental Policy from the UW Evans School of Public Policy & Governance in June 2016, he worked with Washington Water Trails Association advocating for increased public access to Puget Sound. With his diverse environmental background, Ken joins the Coalition with a passion for bringing communities together through environmental stewardship and recreation. Outside of work, you can find him biking on the Burke Gilman, playing soccer at Green Lake, or kayaking on Puget Sound. Get in touch with Ken!
Thank You, Lou!
The Coalition also recently said goodbye to Lou-Anne Daoust-Filiatrault, former Policy Associate. Lou has moved on to an exciting position as a Senior Planning and Development Specialist with the City of Seattle in their Public Utilities program.
While at the Coalition, Lou was a huge part of the policy team, working alongside contract lobbyists and the State Policy Committee. She helped the Coalition in myriad ways as the program was modernized in 2016 and was a major part in most of the Coalition’s work in the last year, especially planning and executing last year’s project tours and this year’s highly successful Legislative Day.
