The Entiat Waterfront Trail is a great example of a WWRP project that increases recreational opportunities within city limits.
In 2001, the City of Entiat used a WWRP grant to develop approximately six acres along the Columbia River and Lake Entiat shoreline for non-motorized trail use and non-motorized water access.
The WWRP funded a 1.2 mile paved multiple-use trail with viewpoints and open spaces, along with a trailhead and associated amenities. The city also installed lighting, benches, and trash receptacles, constructed a parking area and access road, and built an ADA accessible restroom.
This project is a great example of how WWRP funds can be used to increase a community’s recreational opportunities within city limits. This project also meets high priority public access needs in the area. There are non-motorized boat launches and swimming access points along the trail in addition to enhanced shoreline habitat for wildlife.
