Backpacker Magazine writes that the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund faces damaging cuts from both the President’s Budget and the proposed House budget. Coalition Board Director Hannah Clark is quoted in the article.
Excerpt: “It’s one of the most popular things that no one’s ever heard of,” says Hannah Clark, executive director of the Washington Association of Land Trusts. She has seen the fund keep campgrounds open and pay for local ball fields. This year, the trust submitted a request for $5 million to purchase 4,500 acres to reunite a fractured landscape in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest east of Seattle.
