Apply for a WWRP grant with the RCO
Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) grant applicants can learn more about how to apply on the Recreation and Conservation Office’s (RCO) website. The RCO administers the WWRP grant program: they answer questions about projects, accept grant applications, and provide grant funding. The Coalition is the independent non-profit advocate for the WWRP and we are not involved in the application process.
The program was funded with two goals in mind—to acquire and protect valuable recreation and habitat lands, and to develop outdoor recreation facilities to meet the needs of present and future generations. The WWRP provides matching funding to help local jurisdictions with a wide range of possible projects using funds from the capital construction budget.
Local agencies, state agencies, Native American tribes, and other local jurisdictions are encouraged to apply for grants in one of twelve categories: Natural Areas; Water Access; Riparian Protection; Critical Habitat; State Parks; Urban Wildlife; State Lands Development and Renovation; State Lands Restoration and Enhancement; Local Parks; Trails; Farmland Preservation; and Forest Land Preservation.
