Former Governor and Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition co-founder Dan Evans will be honored next Wednesday at the Governor’s Mansion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his inaugural election in 1964.
Excerpt: “Evans never really retired. He and ex-Gov. Mike Lowry — his opponent in an intense 1983 Senate race — formed the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition. It has hustled federal, state and private dollars to protect land and provide recreation across the state. Numerous blue herons owe their rookeries to the WWRC.”
