Thanks in part to a WWRP grant, South Lynnwood Park will be modernized and improved for the local community. The park, which is the only park within walking distance to the city’s most diverse neighborhood, will receive a $2.5 million renovation this summer. Improvements will include a new turf soccer field, sheltered picnic area, accessibility upgrades, an expanded playground, and new connections with the Interurban Trail.

“Very loudly, we heard that soccer play was very important to this neighborhood,” said Sarah Olson, deputy director for the city’s parks department. “The lawn improvements and picnic shelter will probably be the most used features.”
The project also has funding from the Trust for Public Land, the state Youth Athletic Facilities grant program, and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
