House Funding Cuts Would Short-Change America’s Natural Heritage

The Wilderness Society discusses how much Congress’ proposed cuts to the Land and Water Conservation Fund would hurt America’s great outdoors.

Excerpt: “The Land and Water Conservation Fund, targeted for a 32 percent cut, is one of the nation’s most effective laws that invests in parks without costing taxpayers a dime.  Public lands are in dire need of better funding and protections, yet Congress is poised to again turn its back on our natural heritage.

Continued funding cuts have led to reduced visitor services, compromised conservation, growing maintenance backlogs and other harms.”
