Funding for Land and Water Conservation Fund Dropped From Bill

Funding for the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) was dropped from the final Surface Transportation reauthorization bill, writes the San Juan Islander.

Excerpt: “Those funds would have enabled multiple land protection projects, including having provided access to Mt. Rainier National Park, and protected scenic lands along the Pacific Crest Trail, wildlife habitat in Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, as well as working forest lands along the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Pysht Coastal Forest.”
