Bearing the fruit of WWRP grants takes patience. It takes dedication. And it takes stakeholder champions that can help advocate for projects. We are so very fortunate at the Coalition to have such a broad and diverse group of WWRP champions on our Board of Directors.
In the last month and a half, we have attended four ribbon cuttings, with six more events scheduled in the coming month. Most of these events were coordinated by the local agencies which received the WWRP grant award and organizations that have a vested interest in seeing the projects succeed. Celebrating the hard work that it takes to see these wonderful projects come to fruition has a major impact on the communities that are served. These events are a time to reflect, honor, and celebrate. Preserving and creating parks, green spaces, wildlife habitat, and farmland is what this program accomplishes—and these events are when community voices come together to recognize these achievements. Time to stop and smell the roses!
Huge congratulations go out to Mason County, the City of Bothell, Whidbey Camino Land Trust, and the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission for completing wonderful additions to the WWRP project family.
And of course, a big heartfelt thank you to those that continue to support the Coalition by serving on its Board of Directors. We have fifty Board Directors from all over Washington state. Without those folks stepping up to serve by giving their time, talent, and treasure, our Coalition—plain and simple—would not exist.
