Tucked beside Pearrygin Lake State Park, the Yockey Property is 24 acres of shoreline, open space, and unreal views – currently sitting unused, unmanaged, and inaccessible to the public. But with a $1,983,291 WWRP State Parks grant, that’s about to change.
Pearrygin Lake is already a Washington classic. Set in a glacial valley near Winthrop, it’s the kind of place where summer means swimming, boating, and long golden evenings by the water, while winter brings cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat tire biking. The park’s 11,000 feet of shoreline, wildflowers, and wide-open views make it a go-to for campers, families, and first-time outdoor adventurers alike.
By bringing the Yockey Property into public ownership, Washington State Parks will:
- Protect critical lakeshore and watershed habitat
- Expand space for recreation and reduce crowding
- Prevent high-impact private development along the lake
- Actively manage invasive species and preserve the landscape
- Bring the park one step closer to finishing the Rex Derr Trail loop
Planned for completion in 2027, this project was funded as part of the $120 million allocated to the WWRP this biennium.
What are WWRP State Parks grants?
WWRP – State Parks grants help preserve and enhance Washington’s most treasured outdoor spaces, funding new parks, expanding access, improving amenities, and protecting natural and cultural resources so more people can experience them, now and into the future.
