First annual Paddle Summit event showcased Washington’s abundant waterways to water sport enthusiasts from across the country.

The Coalition joined the Washington Water Trails Association (WWTA) at the first annual Paddle Summit. The event, attended by state agency representatives and paddle sport enthusiasts from across the country helped showcase our state’s gorgeous and abundant waterways, from Puget Sound to our many lakes and rivers.

The WWRP’s Water Access category funds public access to beaches, lakes, and rivers for fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating.  Since 1990, the Coalition has secured $56 million in funding for 115 water access sites and protected over 3,500 miles of shoreline through land and easement acquisitions. This grant category helps ensure access to public beaches and waterfronts and allow everyone to enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling.
