We’re thrilled to share some exciting news about the North Kitsap community, Play for All at Raab Park is officially open!
This brand-new, fully inclusive playground is the result of years of planning and dedication from the City of Poulsbo, the Poulsbo Rotary Club, and its community members. This incredible community project received support from a variety of partners, including a Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) Local Parks grant, a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant, and the generous contributions of our local community.
The WWRC would like to congratulate the City of Poulsbo, Mayor Becky Erickson, Jeff Ozimek (Parks & Recreation Director), Rachel Cornette (Parks Coordinator), the Poulsbo Rotary Club, and all the dedicated community members who helped turn this vision into reality. Together, they’ve created a welcoming, accessible space where every child, regardless of ability, can experience the joy of outdoor play.
Designed for Inclusion
Play for All is more than just a playground; it’s a thoughtfully designed recreational space that encourages active play, sensory engagement, and social interaction for kids of all abilities. The City of Poulsbo set out to create a space where no one feels left out, and the result is truly inspiring.
Highlights of the new playground include:
- Brand new, inclusive playground equipment
- Numerous sensory stations are designed to support children with physical and sensory disabilities
- A soft, padded synthetic surface that provides safe and accessible movement throughout the site
- Wheelchair-accessible ramps and pathways
- Special features such as a:
- Wheelchair-friendly merry-go-round
- Inclusive teeter-totter
- Adaptive swing seats
These features are carefully designed to offer both fun and functional play opportunities, providing a rich sensory experience and a welcoming space for everyone.
A Community-Powered Project
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the combined efforts of public funding and community-driven support. The WWRP and LWCF grants provided crucial resources to bring the vision to life, while local individuals, organizations, and families rallied behind the project to help make it a reality.
We’re incredibly proud of what they’ve built together, and we’re excited for local families and visitors from beyond to experience a place that truly reflects the values of inclusion, accessibility, and community spirit.
