2017 Land and Water Conservation Fund Projects Announced

February 12, 2016

The President’s 2017 budget calls for full funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and includes four major projects in Washington state.

While Senator Maria Cantwell’s efforts to get full funding and permanent reauthorization for LWCF continue, President Obama’s recently released budget provides full funding, including a number of projects in Washington state.

If congress approves the President’s budget, the following projects in Washington state would receive funding:

  • Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area
  • Lake Chelan National Recreation Area
  • Willapa National Wildlife Refuge
  • Washington Cascades/Yakima River Watershed: Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest

The Coalition continues to support Senator Cantwell’s efforts – as well as efforts by other members of the Washington state delegation – to get permanent reauthorization and full funding for a program that provides so many benefits to Washingtonians.
