This project in Clark County will provide a variety of new recreation facilities at Salmon Creek Regional Park, located five miles north of downtown Vancouver. Improvements will include two picnic shelters, a fishing dock, hiking and biking trails, play equipment, a paddleboat dock, two viewpoints, and a water play feature for kids. The work site covers forty acres at the eastern end of a 600-acre regional park and greenway system. This site was initially developed in the late 1970s, and included reclamation of a defunct gravel mine. Restored features include Klineline Pond, a nine-acre lake which has become one of Clark County's most heavily used swimming and fishing areas. The pond provides a year-round trout fishery and has the only swimming beach with lifeguards in Clark County. This park is located inside the heavily populated Vancouver urban area. It attracts over 75,000 visitors each year.
