WWRC to Opt To Act

November 7, 2019

This Black Friday the Coalition will once again close our doors and #OptOutside and we couldn’t be more stoked to do so! This year our Coalition member, REI, has transformed their influential holiday initiative into a campaign called Opt To Act that will make an immediate impact on the trash polluting our waterways and wild areas.

We’re excited to join REI in being a part of a nationwide day of action and participate in their Opt To Act Plan, a 52 week challenge to reduce our impact and leave the world better than we found it. Care to join us? We hope you do! We will be posting our weekly challenges on social media so you can follow along.

Ideas for Action when you #OptOutside:

If you’re looking to take care of our public lands on November 29th, think about joining one of our Coalition members:

Washington Trails Association is hosting two work parties: Little Mountain Trails in Mount Vernon and Mount Walker in Quilcene.

Or join the Inland Northwest Land Conservancy for a work party in Spokane.

Out of town for the holiday? Join the Mountains to Sound Greenway to plant trees in the weeks before/after, or the Chelan Douglas Land Trust for a work party on November 16.

**Does your organization have a volunteer work party coming up around November 29? Send it our way and we’ll add it to the list!**

And don’t forget: ALL Washington State Parks are also FREE on the 29th, no Discovery Pass needed.

Whatever you decide to do on Black Friday, we hope it’s outside!
