Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
The Peninsula Metropolitan Park District will use this grant to buy two parcels comprising nearly 4 acres of waterfront property contiguous with the existing 18 acres of Wollochet Bay Estuary Park. One parcel of 1.55 acres includes a maintenance shop, boat launch, dock, and tidelands. The other parcel of 2.37 acres is undeveloped and includes tidelands. The addition of these parcels will enhance the water access and recreation needs for the District including non-motorized boat access and wildlife viewing opportunities.
