The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Acquisition of 42.98 acres of relatively undeveloped land for future development of a community park, with both active and passive recreation opportunities. The site is located on the west bank of the Green River and is an important addition to the existing Green River Greenbelt due to its wildlife value in the corridor, scenic views, and recreation opportunities. Access to the park is off South 212th Street, a major arterial, and pedestrian/bicycle trail via the Green River Trail and South 212th Street underpass. There is a great need in the City of Kent for trailhead facilities for Green River Trail access, access to the river for fishing, group picnic shelters, and athletic fields. This acquisition can satisfy all of these needs.
