Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
This project will provide a variety of new recreation facilities at Salmon Creek Regional Park located 5 miles north of downtown Vancouver. This park was initially acquired and developed with federal and state grants in the early 1970s. Klineline Pond provides year around trout fishing and the only lifeguard-attended swimming lake in the County’s park system. This regional park serves 75,000 visitors annually. Improvements will include one picnic shelter, a picnic area, a fishing dock, hiking and biking trails, play equipment, a paddleboat dock, one viewpoint, and a water play feature for kids.
