Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
This agreement is for the development of facilities which enhance public use of state-owned tidelands, streams, and other shorefish opportunities. Improvements include: fishing floats, sanitary facilities, roads, parking, and small boat access. These improvements enhance opportunities for shellfish harvesting, salmon, smelt and other game fishing. Sites include Elliot and Oakland Bays; Skagit, Cowlitz and Lewis Rivers; and sites near Port Townsend and La Conner.
