Lewis River Greenway – 1996

Category Overview

Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.

Project Highlights

This 166-acre site includes 9,900 lineal feet of shoreline on McCormick Creek and the east fork of the Lewis River. The county’s purchase provides additional access to the scenic river corridor, one of Washington’s best steelhead fishing streams. Connecting to nearby county park sites, the project also enhances opportunities for hiking, swimming, and day use.
