Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, Parks and Recreation Division will use this funding to construct approximately 2,000 linear feet of Segment C of the Lake to Sound Trail (L2S), which runs along Des Moines Memorial Drive from S Normandy Rd to the existing terminus of State Route (SR) 509 at 8th Ave S. This project includes the path construction, installation of curbs and gutters and retaining walls, as well as pedestrian and traffic signal improvements and pavement markings at road crossings. The primary recreation opportunities include walking, jogging, and biking.
