Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
The City of Washougal acquired 7.97 acres for a neighborhood park. The Hartwood property added to the Eldridge Park complex to create a space of 40 acres planned for trails along the Campen Creek Corridor. Of all these combined properties, Hartwood Park is the only property suitable for a “neighborhood” style park, that will provide play structures for children and picnic opportunities in the future. The acquisition of Hartwood Park kept this property from development into 20 residential homes and preserved habitat for deer and other wildlife that frequent the site. The primary outdoor recreation opportunity provided is passive recreation.
