Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Peninsula Metropolitan Park District will use this grant to buy 18 acres at the intersection of 70th Avenue and 32nd Street Northwest for a park. The land was acquired by five families who formed Harbor Family Park, LLC in order to give the community time to purchase the property. If funding fails to materialize, the property will be sold for housing. The surrounding area is the most densely populated area of the Gig Harbor Peninsula outside of Gig Harbor, and is identified as significantly underserved by park facilities.
