Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Grant funds supported the expansion of an existing undersized park through acceptance of a donation property (0.8 acres) and acquisition of an additional 1.9 acres. The project included all the necessary due diligence studies, (environmental site assessments, boundary survey, and cultural survey), and site clean up encompassing the removal of a deteriorated residence, outbuildings, removal of a tree wind row separating the new parcels, trash and debris removal, fencing and signage.
