Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
To acquire lands for development of proposed Foothills Linear Park Trail. This 8-mile section is addressed in the Council-approved Pierce County Comprehensive Park & Recreation Plan. The County plans to acquire an 8-mile long, 40-foot wide right-of-way between Cascade Junction and Carbonado. This acquisition is along an abandoned Burlington Northern Railroad line, and is part of the County’s proposed regional trail system. This trail is an 8-mile portion of the proposed 24-mile Foothills Linear Park Trail. The legal description of the property to be acquired is described in Attachment A.
