Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.
Project Highlights
King County DNR and Parks will use this grant to construct a 1.10 mile long trail along a former rail corridor, a 340 foot bridge across the White River, renovate an existing historic bridge over Boise Creek, and develop a short connector trail on the south side of the White River to connect the existing 20-mile long Foothills Trails. This segment is located between and will connect the Buckley and Enumclaw Foothills Trail along SR 410 North in Pierce County. This will allow King County DNR and Parks to provide non-motorized access to a multi-use trail corridor, connecting the communities of Puyallup, McMillin, Orting, South Prairie, Buckley and Enumclaw in Pierce and King Counties. The primary recreation opportunity provided by this project is non-motorized trail.
