Local Parks grants help protect these symbols of vibrant communities, providing places for families to gather and play and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in an era when people spend increasing amounts of their time inside. The WWRP is the largest source of local parks funding in Washington, helping communities fund the acquisition, development, and renovation of vital recreation areas and green spaces.
Project Highlights
Vancouver will use this grant to begin development of an 88-acre community park in the rapidly developing residential area of north Vancouver. This park will be the only community park in an area of more than 20,000 people. Development will include a basketball court, children’s play equipment, benches, picnic tables, two picnic shelters, restrooms, pathways, wetland and habitat restoration, and parking.
