Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.

Project Highlights

This agreement is a cooperative project with Tacoma Metro Park District to replace an unsafe and worn-out fishing pier at Dash Point State Park. It will provide excellent scenic views and is a popular saltwater angling site.

Location Details

Located on the west side of Federal Way From I-5: Exit at the 320th St.exit (exit #143). Take 320th St. west approximately four miles. When 320th St. ends at a T-intersection, make a right onto 47th St. When 47th St. ends at a T-intersection, turn left onto Hwy. 509/ Dash Point Rd. Drive about two miles to the state park. Continue on Hwy 509 beyond Dash Point State Park and turn right on Markham. Turn right on soundview to the beach (site of the park and pier).

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
