Farmland Preservation protects valuable farmland and habitat for recreationally important animals, like salmon, birds, deer, and elk. These projects allow families to continue farming the land they have worked on for generations, and provide Washingtonians with healthy local food and a diverse economy. WWRP is the only source of farmland preservation funding in the state budget.
Project Highlights
The scope of this project will protect 49.57 acres of farmland located in the Methow Valley through a permanent conservation easement. The proposed conservation easement will prevent subdivision, limit residential development and prevent loss of prime farmland on the Crown S Ranch while supporting the agricultural economy of Okanogan County. The Crown S Ranch is located two miles south of Winthrop and all farmland on the ranch is certified organic.
