Critical Habitat projects are our state’s primary tool for conserving important fish and wildlife habitat. These projects protect the rich and diverse habitats in our forests, prairies, and wetlands. These funds help maintain our state’s biodiversity and protect species that are popular for hunting, birding, and other outdoor recreation, and are critical for the health of our salmon and fish populations.
Project Highlights
This agreement is for the continued protection for strategically located plots in the Columbia Basin to provide wildlife habitat areas for pheasants. Intensive farming and the loss of wetlands have had a major impact on wildlife and upland birds in the Columbia Basin. Acquisition of 381 acres will help in the recovery and protection of a number of game and non-game species.
