Trails grants help communities and recreation areas fund the creation and improvement of trails for walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. These grants help make communities more livable, create regional trails systems, and open up beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. WWRP is the largest source of trail support in the state of Washington.

Project Highlights

This project involves the development of 2.8 miles of trail from I-405 to Renton’s east city limits. This phase of trail development links the Lake Washington, Soos Creek, and Cedar River trail systems together.

Location Details

Take exit 4A off of I-405. Trail begins underneath the I-405 overpass over the Cedar River at the pedestrian bridge and parallels Highway 169 (Maple Valley Highway) and the Cedar River east to Ron Regis Park. GPS: 47.28.837N 122.12.004W

What is the WWRP

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
