Urban Wildlife Habitat projects fund close-to-home places to play and explore nature. As our urban areas are increasingly expanding and densifying, these grants protect important fish and wildlife habitat within five miles of densely populated areas, creating green refuges that help keep our ecosystems healthy and provide places to enjoy nature right in our backyards.
Project Highlights
The Carpenter Creek Salt Marsh acquisition is located near the urban growth area of Kingston. This project will acquire 14.31 acres of wetlands near Kingston. The property includes estuarine salt marsh at the mouth of Carpenter Creek which serves as critical habitat for salmon and cutthroat trout. Acquisition will help create a primary link to other nearby public lands.
