Washington is famous for its gorgeous and abundant waterways, from the Salish Sea to the Nisqually River, but many communities lack open public beaches and waterfronts where everyone can enjoy picnicking, swimming, paddling, boating, and angling. Water Access projects fund public shoreline access, boat launches, and fishing docks to create more opportunities for water recreation.
Project Highlights
This project will develop the only regional waterfront park on a 23-mile section of the Columbia River that stretches from west Vancouver to the Clark/Skamania County Line. Captain William Clark Park encompasses 75 acres, including 1.5 miles of shoreline and a 10-acre sand beach. It is adjacent to Steamboat Landing, a 2-acre site that has docks for fishing and canoe/kayak access and serves as the west trailhead for the 3.5-mile Lewis and Clark regional trail. Proposed development at the park includes picnic tables, trails, parking, signing, and restrooms.
