Larry Scott Trail Final Phase
The Jefferson County Public Works Department will use this grant to buy the remaining 1.5 miles needed to develop the Larry Scott Trail from the Cape George Road area to the Four Corners area. The County also will develop about 4.5 miles of the trail to be a 10-foot-wide, compacted gravel surface that accommodates multiple uses and is accessible to people with disabilities. A 4-foot-wide horse path will parallel the trail. Crews also will build a trail head at the south end of the trail that will include parking, a kiosk, and links to other modes of transportation. Named after an important community member, the Larry Scott Trail is an 8.5-mile route that begins in Port Townsend, and will connect to the Olympic Discovery Trail, which runs to the Pacific Ocean. The County will contribute $590,830 in cash and a federal grant.
