Hartwood Property Acquisition
The Hartwood Property Acquisition looks to expand services to an underserved portion of the City of Washougal and to bring Washougal up to the goals established for neighborhood parks in the 2006 Parks Comprehensive Plan. The project also focuses on land preservation from development and habitat conservation as an important piece along the prominent Campen Creek Corridor. Washougal currently has a 6.2 acre shortfall of neighborhood parks throughout the city. The 2006 Parks Comprehensive Plan identifies five underserved park service areas throughout the City Of Washougal. The immediate availability of the Hartwood Property satisfies the deficiency in at least one of these areas. The partnership forged with Clark County Conservation Futures enables the City of Washougal to acquire this property for future use as a neighborhood park and important trail link along a significant creek corridor. This acquisition demonstrates Conservation Futures commitment to the Washougal community by joining this neighborhood park to Eldridge Park, a previous purchase by the Clark County conservation group.
