Description

This acquisition is a key link in a greenway/trails system crossing the north Kitsap peninsula from Hood Canal to Puget Sound. The project connects county parks at Hood Canal and Buck Lake through a forested trail system with viewing access of beaver ponds. Conservation easements will protect water quality and salmon habitat on the site.

Location
Trail is located near the Community of Hansville, at northern tip of Kitsap Peninsula. Located in North Kitsap County on Buck Lake Road with the trail head in Buck Lake County Park. The park is approximately 154 acres.

WHAT IS THE WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
